Scarification plans and ponderings

I’ve been thinking about my tattoo and scarification plans lately. Mainly to do with finishing my foot tattoos and designing my right hand half-sleeve and getting my second scarification done.

When I had my first scarification I was very impulsive and largely unaware of the time and energy needed throughout the healing process. The piece on my thigh is considered large compared to most scarification pieces, and because of that it took almost a month to heal. A month of limping, itching and swelling, because of this I am dreading my second piece. The pain I can deal with, the immobility and general irritation of healing a wound that big is another matter. I would like it to be finished as it’s been half-done for almost two years now but taking the time out of work, and the fact that my job involves much more travel to London for meetings, means it’ll be much more of a hindrance this time around.

Another consideration is weight. I’ve gained some weight since my first scarification and although the design isn’t too warped, the original template I have for it will be smaller in comparison. For this reason I think I should wait until I’ve shifted the extra pounds I’ve gained before getting the cutting.

You can see my scarification below about two months after it was cut. I absolutely love it, but I am intimidated by the thought of healing another. Maybe I just need to “man up” and get on with it but now that I know what the process involves, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous.

Floral Fabric

While out shopping in Woking I spotted this beautiful fabric so naturally I bought far too much of it.

Most of today was spent in front of my sewing machine – something I haven’t done for years! Granted, this wasn’t the most difficult pattern to follow, but I’m really pleased with how these trousers turned out.

Oh, and here’s a nice photo of @cliffwaz206 painting his Warhammer models and watching BBC’s Planet Earth.

Garrus Vakarian Portrait

It’s finally finished! I started this project back in December and it’s finally done! Work in progess images can be found here and here. It’s a shame the orange background didn’t photograph too well

I’ve been playing with my new HD camera so a time lapse video is below.

Wearable plants

My wearable planter necklace from Colleen Jordan finally arrived! I planted some miniature ivy in it so hopefully it’ll grow to cascade out of it over time, not that I’m expecting it to grow a huge amount with an inch of soil.

I really love the idea of wearing something that is alive and growing. Also the ability to change the plants/flowers to match your outfit or the seasons makes these necklaces really versatile.
