I'm Korina and this is my personal blog. Here you find gaminggeekery, insects, art, body modification, photography and a anything else I feel like writing about. You can find out more about me here.
My female Phyllium giganteum molted recently and is looking beautiful! I have already lost one of my leaf bugs to a bad molt, so I was glad she got through it ok. I decided to film her walking just to show off how lovely she is. There is also a photo below!
Here’s the time lapse video I promised in my last post. The music is Noah & The Whale’s “Give It All Back” and the custom took about two hours to complete (between tea breaks!).
I finally got around to painting my Vinyl Eeerz figurine! Of course, it had to be insect themed. I’m currently working on a time lapse video so expect to see that in a few hours. EDIT: You can see the time lapse video here!
This is the first vinyl figurine I have tried customizing and I really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely try something more ambitions next time.
I did my second body suspension yesterday. I felt a much greater sense of freedom with two hooks that I didn’t get with the Angel suspension I did in the Summer.
I was hanging for just over an hour and was swinging for most of that time – it was so much fun! Really looking forward to the next event now and I’ve already racked up a list of different types of suspensions I want to try next year. I dragged my friend Steve from Daily Joypad along to see the event and he wanted to do some filming which produced the awesome video below!
The music is ‘The Night’ by School of Seven Bells.
The video contains images of body piercing. It’s not violent but some may find it uncomfortable to watch.
Big thanks to the lovely Rolf Buchholz for the wonderful photos!
The event started in Bermondsey Square. After giving over your tickets and agreeing to abide by the laws of physics, you were ushered together to be briefed by the awesome/crazy lady below, and given a map and some simple instructions:
Find the survivors
Get the co-ordinates to the next survivor
Get to the safe house
Avoid getting bitten by zombies
We then embarked on a hilarious and tiring journey across London meeting some colourful characters along the way. They including an infected, chained up priest, a love-sick landlord and a girl with diabetes – who thought hiding out at the top of a multi-story car park during the zombie apocalypse was a good idea! Not forgetting the zombies of course… our friend James was a volunteer zombie for the night (in the aforementioned car park) and was the first one to infect one of our team. A video of the car park can be seen below – please excuse the naughty words.
“We should have brought a bigger boat!” – Ed
It was one of the most surreal, exhilarating and hilarious nights out I’ve ever had in London. The Zombies were great and never broke character. Some ran really, really fast too! I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to do something a bit different for Halloween. Next time I am definitely volunteering to be a zombie!
Only two members of our team were bitten – you can see the post-screening image below. But a few of us decided to get zombied up anyway!
The team in all it’s glory! Front to back, left to right: Ed, Mark, Mike, Chris, Me, Cero, and our two acquired team members, Pete and Fi.
I love Rick Genest’s tattoos, he is fondly called Zombie Boy for a reason. He was one of the first heavily tattooed people I’d ever seen. In the last few years he’s become even more famous after being chosen by stylist Nicolas Formichetti to model for Mulger’s spring collection, featured in Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” video and now he’s the face of Dermablend make-up – a strong make-up designed to cover tattoos.
It looks the same, to me. I guess I’m just used to being in my own skin. – Zombie Boy
It’s really strange seeing him without his prominent facial tattoos but it must have been even stranger for him. If I were him I’d want to go surprise a few friends/family! The video and behind the scenes video are below.
Last night was the 2011 Games Media Awards, an event that celebrates the best of games journalism in the UK. Aside from some drama, lovingly dubbed “Grainger-gate”, it was a fantastic evening of festivities, dwarves and a lot of drunken journalists.
As the the company I work for was sponsoring, we were sat at the very front of the show. A combination of my age, the fact that I was the only girl on a table of 9 and I had visible tattoos made me fair game for the comedian – the awesome Greg Davies. That was awesome and embarrassing in equal measures. It was certainly a talking point for the rest of the evening!
Huge congratulations go out to the winners of the various awards – all of which were very deserving. The full list can be seen below (thanks MCV!).

I’ll finish off this post with a video I took of my chums Dan and Andy, a.k.a MrPointyHead and SuperKaylo, taking part in the We Sing Bandeoke. This pretty much made my evening – enjoy!
